Everyone yearns for attention, hell, I’m doing it right now, through social media or any platforms to express themselves so that others will notice them. You can deny it consciously, but every now and then your subconscious thoughts will pop up as your dream, in which you’re a hero/heroine to rescue/be rescued by someone you admire so much. Is it a bad thing? No. But, it is destructive as it is constructive, it can either build or crush your self-esteem that you’ve worked so hard to achieve.

The truth is that, everyone wants to be recognized and awarded for doing something, especially if it’s something that you love and is proud of. This is how we were raised and how the society works. Anyone can start something, but not everyone can pull it off. So, what happens if you can’t pull it off? You can either give up since no one notices you anyway or you can choose to keep going to embrace the unknown and fails repeatedly while you’re at it.

And at times like these, words suddenly hold special power that you wouldn’t expect. It’s important to know that your mindset literally defines the success and failure of something that you’re working on and those words are the input that you’ve been feeding it. Words can change someone, words from others and words from yourself. The more you undermine yourself, the more you believe it, the more likely it will become the truth. No one can help you to open your heart, or to do something that will ease your self-doubt, not this post, not your parents nor your friends. It’s all up to you, and I know it might sound disheartening that you’re all alone, but everyone’s been through this. It is hard to not give up, it always has been.

But it’s worth it.

You can only realize how much you love something until it’s gone, how stressful it is to keep up with something out of your comfort zone until you actually take the first step. Anyone can set up a motivational speech with enough material, but in the end, only you can motivate yourself to take the first leap and the second, the third, until the end.

You’re not a wizard, you can’t cast explosions and neither can I. It’s not possible to let those words reach you overnight and even if it does, it’s useless unless you really wanted to keep it going. I couldn’t judge you from this side, perhaps you accomplish more than I could ever dream of and is currently living a wonderful life, improving your self-worth every single day. So, I’ll just offer you this – don’t stop. Words from others can warm your heart or destroy it, stranding you in the dark depression zone but only you can light up a torch and guide your own way out of it.

Accept yourself for doing what you love and inspire yourself, there will always be negative criticism to try and bring you down. But the words that you convince yourself, the dose of optimism and stubbornness are the most powerful thing there is. Highlighting a quote by Jim Carrey, ” You can fail at what you don’t want, so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love. “

On the edge of sleeping? Perhaps a movie suits you better. I recommend Koe No Katachi ( A Silent Voice ) and Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda ( The Anthem of the Heart ) that might be able to resonate with you as they are both a great anime movies on acceptance and forgiveness. They are both inspiring and entertaining that shows how powerful words can be.

And I guess, that’s all. As always, thanks for reading.
